MÓRGA LAUNCHES DEBUT CD

www.morga.ie

Young traditional group Mórga will launch their self-titled debut album in June. Mórga was founded in 2007 by four young musicians to create a band inspired by the sound and sheer energy of the great traditional Irish bands of the seventies. The band is based around accordion, fiddle and banjo as melody instruments, with backing provided by the rarely heard Greek bouzouki, creating rich high-end harmonies, and driven by the bass beat of the bodhran. The aim is to recreate a part of our musical heritage, which is too often lost in contemporary Irish music.

Many people in Ireland were happy to see Moving Hearts back together as an instrumental band and duly filled Dublin’s Vicar Street for 4 successive nights in February 2007.
