WESTLAND STUDIOS
www.westlandstudiosdublin.com
Westland Studios, one of Ireland’s longest running facilities with a client list including U2, Bob Dylan, Thin Lizzy, The Cure and Bryan Adams, has been taken over by new management, producer and engineer Alwyn Walker. The studio which is situated in Dublin’s city centre features an E series SSL 4048, soffit-mounted ATC monitors, an Otari MTR-100 tape machine and Baldwin grand piano. “Westland always had an impressive gear list, but with my own mic collection and backline added, we can offer a much more comprehensive service than most other studios in Ireland.” says Alwyn, who is upbeat about the future. “Taking on a big studio today is definately a risk but with the history, the facilities, the vibe and the gear, we’re all set for a new chapter in Westland’s story.”
Westland Studios now has a new website which can be seen at www.westlandstudiosdublin.com

Ninteen years after the Patrick O’Keeffe Traditional Music Festival was founded in his honour and 48 years after his death the legend of ‘The Last of the Great Fiddle Masters’ lives on. In the course of the October bank holiday since 1993, Castleisland has taken on the mantle of breast of the beating heart of Sliabh Luachra music and culture. There, in the Co. Kerry town and in the course of the now famed weekend, dawn to dusk sessions of the finest traditional fare have drawn patrons back year after year and pushing out the boundaries with new areas of the world represented with every passing festival. Just as the fall of 1993 approached, RTE Radio 1 presenter/producer, Peter Browne prompted that some event or other should be held to honour O’Keeffe – as the year marked the 30th anniversary of his death.
