Gig’n the Bann Festival, Portglenone, Co. Antrim

Now in its thirteenth year the Portglenone Cross Cultural Music and Dance Festival has established itself as one of the premier and much anticipated events on the festival calendar. It has evolved into an annual event that is attended by people from the locality, from the length and breadth of Ireland and from as far as away as Canada and the USA. The festival has built a reputation for offering a highly impressive line – up of top performers spanning Traditional, Scottish and Folk Music circles.

The festival has produced concerts displaying many world renowned performers from the Irish traditional and Ulster Scots traditions such as Altan; Dervish; Lúnasa; Guidewires; The Red Hot Chilli Pipers and The Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band, to name but a few.

Plans for the 2012 festival are well under way and visitors will be spoilt for choice with concerts featuring Sharon Shannon, Don Stiffe and the Rapparees; Traditional Sessions, Pipe Bands; a 5K Fun Run; Set Dancing and Sean-Nós Dance Workshop; Bard competition and the top class Young Musician of the Bann competition.

So whether you want to join in on a session, listen to the sound of the pipes and drums or attend one of the concerts or other events, come to Gig’n The Bann.
