IRISH FAIR OF MINNESOTA AWARDED ‘BEST PUBLIC EVENT’ BY THE INTERNATIONAL SPECIAL EVENT SOCIETY

The Irish Fair of Minnesota, the three-day annual celebration of Irish heritage and culture, was awarded “Best Public Event” during the Minneapolis–St. Paul Chapter of the International Special Event Society’s (ISES) 2014 Minnesota Star Awards. The Minnesota Star Awards recognize outstanding professionals in the special event industry for all of the events they create, plan, manage and execute each year.

The 35th anniversary of the Irish Fair of Minnesota will be held Friday, August 8th through Sunday, August 10, 2014 on Harriet Island in St. Paul, Minn. With nearly 100,000 attendees each year, this event is the largest free celebration of its kind in the nation.

Once again, the Irish Fair of Minnesota will provide a family-friendly experience to celebrate authentic Irish heritage through a multitude of activities such as: a Children’s Tent, an Irish Authors Literary Corner, step dance, traditional group dance, Gaelic sports, Celtic marketplace, cultural displays, native Irish dogs, traditional tea room, Irish food and drink as well as several local and international bands.

“We are thrilled to be honored by ISES,” says Colleen Healy, executive director of the Irish Fair of Minnesota. The Best Public Event category recognizes the production of a parade, fair, festival, tradeshow or other public event.

Irish Fair of Minnesota is a 501(c)3 non-profit and volunteer– driven organization that provides an opportunity for individuals to express passion for their heritage, support the Irish cultural renaissance, and strengthen the vitality of new immigrant communities in Minnesota. The event is held every second weekend in August on St. Paul’s Harriet Island.

The International Special Events Society is comprised of over 5,600 professionals associated among 50 chapters in 37 countries around the world who work in the special events industry. ISES provides education and networking to its members to promote professionalism in the special events industry. The ISES Minneapolis–St. Paul Chapter is the authoritative voice on special events throughout the upper Midwest.
