FLEADH NUA ENNIS
May 17th – 25th, 2015, www.fleadhnua.com

This annual event has been held in Ennis, County Clare since 1974. The festival has now grown to such an extent that it now offers over 120 separate musical experiences over the week of May 17th – 25th. There is a full Evening Concert Programme, a series of free lunchtime concerts called The Riches of Clare. There will be CD Launches, Singing Sessions, Céilithe, Foinn Seisiún Workshops, Cupán Ceoil – Café Music Sessions, Dancing from Comórtas Rince Náisiúnta and also Sean Nós Dancing Competitions.
The Fleadh Nua will also show the film Last Night As I Lay Dreaming. The line is taken form the song Spancil Hill a favourite of the late Robbie MacMahon. The film is set against the backdrop of community life in rural Ireland. This is a tribute to Robbie MacMahon which captures some of his performances along with contributions that set his achievements in a wider context. It highlights the important role the singer and songwriter has traditionally played in their local communities, recording significant events and keeping that memory a live for future generations.
