www.pipers.ie

Notes and Narratives is a new initiative from Dublin based Na Piobraí Uilleann who will host monthly performance-based lectures on music, song and dance by some of Ireland’s finest traditional artists. NPU tell us that “Notes and Narratives provides a unique opportunity for young musicians, singers and dancers to showcase valuable researched material in an engaging and entertaining format.”

The series takes place on the third Friday of each month at NPU’s restored Georgian headquarters at 15 Henrietta St, Dublin. Lectures/performances will run for up to 45 minutes followed by an open discussion to provide the audience with an opportunity to engage with the performers. On Friday 18th February the lecture will be by Caoimhín Mac Aoidh who will speak on Tarlach Mac Suibhne - An Píobaire Mór. The following month on Friday 18th March, Paul de Grae will discuss Captain O’Neill and the Americans.

On the final Saturday of February (25th) NPU will host a Leo Rowsome Commemorative day, with lectures, concerts in Henrietta Street and a pipe making  workshop at Unit 44, Port Tunnel Business Park, IDA Business Park, Clonshaugh, Dublin 17.
