New appointments at TG4

Pól Ó Gallchóir has been appointed Chief Executive of TG4 and Pádhraic Ó Ciardha has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive following the public competition for these posts that took place recently. Both appointees had previously been in the roles of Ceannasaí and Leascheannasaí TG4, respectively. The new posts and titles were created and publicly advertised following on the Ministerial order that established TG4 as a separate statutory entity from 1st April, 2007.

Pól Ó Gallchóir is a native of Gaoth Dobhair in the Donegal Gaeltacht. He has been Ceannasaí TG4 since May 2000. He had previously held a number of senior positions with RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, including Ceannaire 1994-2000 and Regional Manager 1987-1994. He has also worked in a number of journalist positions with the News Division in RTÉ.

Pádhraic Ó Ciardha is a native of Cois Fharraige in the Galway Gaeltacht and has been Leascheannasaí TG4 since 1998 and a member of the channel’s staff since 1994. He had previously worked in a number of editorial positions with the RTÉ News Division and as Irish Language Broadcasting Advisor to Government Ministers.
