Rounder Records is pleased to announce the release of A Christmas Celtic Sojourn, Live (CD & DVD) on November 6. A Christmas Celtic Sojourn, Live brings the warmth and good cheer of an Irish family Christmas celebration to a theatrical setting and transports you to a winter’s eve by the crackling fire, sipping a hot mulled cider.

This is the third release for Rounder in the Christmas Celtic Sojourn series created by popular Celtic radio host Brian O’Donovan. O’Donovan has hosted the Christmas edition of his A Celtic Sojourn radio program for nearly two decades and it has become a seasonal highlight. He also hosts A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH-TV and has presented the popular Christmas Celtic Sojourn concert series since 2003. All of these endeavors have inspired the extraordinary holiday concert presented on this CD and DVD. There will be several Christmas Celtic Sojourn shows this holiday season in New York (December 19 & 20 at Town Hall) and Boston (December 13, 14, 15, 16, 21 & 22 at The Cutler Majestic Theatre).

The live CD and the DVD (sold separately) document last year’s sold-out, six show run at the historic Cutler Majestic Theatre in Boston and feature instrumental and vocal music by a host of beloved Celtic artists including Karan Casey (ex-Solas), singer and raconteur Robbie O’Connell, the a cappella ensemble Navan and many others. The DVD features the full concert program with stories, reminiscences, and dancing, and is captured in widescreen HD, with several additional
bonus performances and a behind-the-scenes featurette. The audio portion is available in both digital stereo and 5.1 surround sound. The CD consists of a 14-track musical program ranging from traditional carols to contemporary songs and timeless instrumental music.

Rounder released A Christmas Celtic Sojourn in 2001 and Comfort and Joy in 2003, both of which were compilations – this new release in the series is the first to feature new material.
