May 16th – 18th, 2008

The 7th Skerries Traditional Music Weekend has become a well-established cultural event throughout Ireland and further a field and is proving to be a very popular traditional event at the beginning of each summer. In 2008 the traditions of the North Fingal Community will continue to grow from strength to strength with the introduction of old Fingal tunes the archives taught by tutors from the Fingal area.

Once again, many of Ireland’s leading exponents of traditional music and dance will both teach and perform in local Skerries venues. Mary Bergin, Máire O’Keeffe, Liz Doherty, Charlie & Ben Lennon, Colm Gannon, Garry O’Briain, Marie Garrity, Mick Mulkerrins & Mairéad Casey will be joined by many more for a wonderful weekend of entertainment and fun from the 16th to the 18th May 2008. A high level of active participation is again anticipated - young and old, beginners and advanced - in a wide range of traditional activities.

This year sponsorship by Fingal County Council’s Community Cultural & Sports Department and local businesses is augmented by The Arts Council. The local community organising committee is very grateful for this vital support. Please log on to or email for further information on the Traditional Music Weekend taking place in Skerries in May.
