FLEADH CHEOIL NA MUMHAN

The Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan 2008 which will be staged in Kenmare, Co. Kerry from July 15th - 22nd 2008.

Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan, now in its 48th year, has become the largest Provincial Fleadh in Ireland, Britain and United States. It plays host to visitors from home and abroad and Kenmare should prove to be a most popular venue. Visitors from all over the world will enjoy a true Kerry welcome and will be treated to an abundance of music, song and dance at the many impromptu sessions as well as set and céilí dancing venues around the town.

The organising committee have compiled a exciting programme of events including a wide selection of outdoor and indoor concerts, céilithe, workshops, competitions, and street sessions.

If you’re looking for sun, sand, sea….and sets,  Kenmare in Kerry is the place to be from Sunday 13th to Sunday 20th of July. Why? Because Kenmare is the venue for the Munster Fleadh Cheoil 2008………Eight days of celebrating our musical heritage with story-telling, music, song, dance and lots of craic!

In a full week, jam-packed with events, there’ll be concerts, street entertainment, competitions, workshops, ceili bands and more. The whole town’ll be rocking and there’ll be sets everywhere……..

The action starts on Sunday afternoon 13th of July with ‘Tostal Inbhear Sceine’  -  a full re-enactment of the fateful landing of the Milesians in Kenmare Bay around 1,000 years BC, and this will lead up to the climax  –  the Fleadh weekend itself, on Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th.
