The most exciting and innovative news on the Irish music scene is the opening in April 2009 of the brand new, up to the minute exhibition and information unit at Ceoláras Coleman, Gurteen, Co. Sligo. In this purpose built facility, there are listening posts, display boards and a stunning audio-visual presentation. The latter presents a history of traditional Irish music and musical instruments dating back to the very origin of both. A unique display on eye-catching boards and in display cases provide the visitor with facts and history and the benefits of extensive research and archive details.

This unique display also provides opportunities to listen to musicians and styles (both old and new) from Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, Fermanagh and the USA. There are singing and dancing demonstrations, including Sean-nós and a wonderful photographic display can be viewed at the touch of a button.

Ceoláras Coleman is also launching its brand new state of the art coffee shop, where visitors are assured of a wide variety of excellent refreshments. The theatre in Ceoláras Coleman will continue to present the finest traditional music entertainment and host music events.
