Gig ‘n The Bann

“Celebrating 10 years of cross cultural music, song and dance on the Banks of the Silvery Bann”

In the heart of Co. Antrim lies the village of Portglenone. The village rests along the banks of the River Bann, which has been immortalised by countless artists and writers down through the years.

It is here in this idyllic setting that the 10th “Gig’n The Bann” Cross Community Music Festival will take place from the 2nd – 6th September 2009. The festival has now become one of the major events on the Irish Summer Festival Calendar.

The Festival programme for 2009 will again include the usual mix of Concerts, Traditional Music Sessions, the Bard ‘n The Bann competition which showcases the talent of local writers. There is also the opportunity to hear world class pipe bands at the “Pipe`N The Bann” event which is one of the highlights of the festival

For 2009 the performers will include Beoga, Martin O`Connor, Cathal Hayden and Seamie O’Dowd The Illeagles, Cullybackey Pipe band, Pure Blarney, Solas Dance Group, Siobhan O’Donnell and The Rusty Shacklefords. Throughout the weekend there will be traditional music sessions in the local bars.
