Yet again, a full programme of workshops will be offered in flute, fiddle, banjo, bodhrán, whistle, mandolin, concertina, button accordion, piano accordion, harp and uilleann pipes. These workshops are presented professionally by musicians of the highest calibre.

All classes are graded and all grades are well catered for by experienced musicians with excellent pedagogic skills and strong motivation in passing on the traditional culture to the next generation. Tuition is available to beginners in tin whistle, bodhrán, set-dancing and singing but as well we cater for the more advanced and accomplished students and provide an opportunity for them to gain top-class tuition from traditional icons.

Set-dancing with set-dancing supremo Pat Murphy is an integral part of The Joe Mooney Summer School. Pat has been set-dancing tutor at this school since he took over the mantle from the great and only Connie Ryan. Pat is also a collector of sets, has written books on sets and in the last few years has produced DVD’s on set-dancing, 2 hand dances and Irish Traditional step-dancing.

Evening workshops with Maureen Culleton, Ger Butler, Maureen O’Leary and Ronan Regan will keep toes tapping all week. There will be also well- known popular céilí bands, including the Annaly Céilí Band from nearby Longford, Michael Sexton and Pat Walshe all the way from Cork, Copperplate band from across the border and our ever popular Swallows Tail and Glenside.

Also on offers is open air dancing on High St. on Saturday afternoon with Davey Céilí Band where dancers and sightseers alike enjoy this non-stop electrifying dancing experience. The pulse of Traditional Music is alive and well in the heart of Leitrim.
