A new stage show featuring the act “Women of Ireland” and starring legendary traditional super group “Frankie Gavin & De Dannan” is set to host its national debut at Ireland’s National Event Centre, Killarney from July 2009. Fresh from a 10 week tour of the USA with the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra, “Women of Ireland” and Frankie Gavin & De Dannan will take to the stage at the INEC, Killarney between July & September this summer. Performing alongside the five superbly talented female performers who make up the act ‘Women of Ireland’ and the world’s greatest fiddle player Frankie Gavin with De Dannan will be a cast of world champion dancers and gifted musicians.

Frankie who is one of the genuine legends of Irish music and was a founding member of Irish traditional group “De Dannan” said of his plans to play a prolonged run at the INEC: “I am really looking forward to giving local audiences and those visiting Ireland a chance to see this show. This particular residency coincides with the launch of an all new De Dannan line up which features some fantastic performers. I am also very pleased to be working with the group ‘Women of Ireland’ and judging by the standing ovations the act received night after night in the States recently I know it’s going to be a huge talking point in Ireland during the summer.”

In recent times Frankie and his band have played support to the Rolling Stones at Slane Castle, performed at The White House for the U.S. President and performed at the ‘Dubai Irish Festival’ with the Dubai Philharmonic Orchestra. Future dates are also scheduled for Frankie Gavin & De Dannan at Carnegie Hall in New York, Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi and Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

The ‘Women of Ireland’ features Irish female performers Denise Brennan (vocals), Michelle Lally (vocals), Ingrid Madsen (vocals), Zoe Conway (fiddle) & Siobhán Manson (dance) amongst other special guests. The show is produced by Galway man Eric Cunningham who also manages the band De Dannan. On the launch of his new production in Ireland Eric said: “For me the INEC was always going to be the natural home for ‘Women of Ireland’. The venue owners have delivered world class shows repeatedly in Killarney and I am delighted to have been asked to add ‘Women of Ireland’ featuring “Frankie Gavin & De Dannan” to the line-up of shows there this year. This show has something for everyone and is certainly a family event which has talent written all over it…I believe it will not disappoint.”
