West Cork Music is delighted to be able to announce that Christy Moore will be performing at this year’s Masters of Tradition Festival. He will be performing on Friday 14 August in the 10.30pm Níos Deanaí and is the latest addition to the line-up for this very popular festival which takes place in Bantry, West Cork from 12 - 16 August.

As ever the Festival is headlined by Martin Hayes, the fiddler from East Clare, whose distinctive touch and extravagant virtuosity has brought the tradition to new levels. His famous trance-evoking sets with Dennis Cahill have mesmerised audiences all over the world. So the five days of music-making in Bantry House and St Brendan’s Church, Bantry will be opened and closed by the resident master.

Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill will be joined during the week both in St Brendans and in Bantry House by masters like Tommy Peoples, Paddy Keenan, John McEvoy, Mick, Louise and Michelle Mulcahy, Kevin Crawford, Steve Cooney, Niamh Parsons with Graham Dunne, John Flanagan, John Spillane, Máire Ní Chéilleachair, John Wynne, John and Jacinta McEvoy and Sean Ó Sé with Peadar Ó Riada. Singers get a special focus this year and the last night line-up has to be seen to be believed.

The late-night sessions in the candle-lit Library of Bantry House create a unique atmosphere. On Friday Christy Moore takes the stage with some songs that he says “need an airing before the moth balls kill them altogether”. On Saturday we welcome Sean Ó Sé with Peadar Ó Riada. Also on Saturday in the afternoon, the six masters who led the young musicians’ workshops, Maura Walsh [concertina], Tina McLoughlin [tin whistle], Máire Ní Chéilleachair [singer], Damien Mullane [accordion], Aoife Granville [fiddle] and Eamonn Cotter [flute] will give a session in St Brendan’s Church.

Booking opens on 22 July and tickets can be booked on-line. Concerts will begin sharply at the advertised time. For booking and information, contact West Cork Music on 027 52788 or Lo Call 1850 788 789. Book online at for further details.
