RUNRIG GUITARIST TO UNDERGO HEART BY-PASS

Malcolm Jones, guitarist with legendary Scottish band Runrig, entered hospital in July to undergo heart by-pass surgery. Inverness-born Malcolm, 49, underwent minor surgery after suffering a heart attack earlier this year. Following tests by-pass surgery has been recommended as a standard preventative procedure to ensure he experiences no further recurring heart problems. Unfortunately, the timing of the surgery forced Runrig to cancel three Danish concerts scheduled for the end of June.

A spokesman for the band said: “We apologise for any disappointment caused by the cancellation of the Danish concerts, but Malcolm’s health must be our main priority. His doctors assure us that he will make a full and speedy recovery and will be back with us for our concerts in August.

The band’s August concerts include the 35th anniversary Tonder Festival in Denmark and a showcase, open-air Year of Homecoming Scotland show at Scone Palace, Perth on Saturday, 29th August that is expected to attract over 15,000 people from all over the world.
