New Single out soon featuring The Waterboys

Taken from Sharon Shannon’s Top 5 album SAINTS AND SCOUNDRELS, the new single, Saints and Angels, (available to download via itunes from Nov. 27th) sees Sharon reunited with The Waterboys after a 20 year hiatus with this unique one-off lineup.

Mike Scott from The Waterboys wrote Saints and Angels in the late 1980’s. It was scheduled for inclusion on the iconic Fisherman’s Blues album but never made the cut. As the band often performed the song at live shows during that period, Sharon had really great memories of the song. Sharon said “Originally my album was to be called Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, but when I asked Mike, Steve and Anto to contribute to it; I really wanted us to record Saints and Angels because it is one of my all time favourite songs. So rather than not include it we changed the album name to SAINTS AND SCOUNDRELS. Recording the song at my studio in Galway brought back so many fond memories of my formative years playing with these great musicians”.

Saints and Angels is the follow-up to the chart-topping Mama Lou featuring The Cartoon Thieves, also taken from Saints and Scoundrels.

Mike Scott and the Waterboys showcase their new show An appointment with Mr. Yeats (20 Yeats poems put to music by Mike) at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin 15-20 March 2010.
