West Cork Music presents the much anticipated Concert for Seamus - a tribute to the late fiddle player Seamus Creagh.
On Friday 27 November at 8pm in St Brendan’s Church in Bantry, fiddler Matt Cranitch will be joined by an impressive line-up of some of the finest traditional musicians in the country. All friends of Seamus, many are travelling great distances to come to Bantry to pay tribute to the much loved musician.
Accordion players Aidan Coffey and Jackie Daly join fiddle players Tommy Peoples and Geraldine O’Callaghan, De Dannan’s Colm Murphy (bodhrán), flute player Hammy Hamilton, Pat Ahern on bouzouki, Con Ó Drisceoil (melodeon) and singers Danny and Eoiní Maidhcí Ó Suilleabháin for what promises to be a memorable night.
All proceeds from this event will go to the Bridge Co-op in Cork City, a charity close to Seamus’ heart.

The Centre for Irish Studies at NUI Galway is delighted to announce a second series of workshops with renowned Sean-Nós Dancer-in-Residence, Seosamh Ó Neachtain.
A graduate of NUI Galway, Seosamh Ó Neachtain is one of a handful of performers who have rejuvenated the Gaeltacht tradition of sean-nós dancing, introducing the athleticism and sophistication of a dynamic but neglected art form to national and international audiences. He has performed on concert stages throughout the world with some of the finest exponents of traditional music, including Altan, De Danann, Máirtín O’Connor, Harry Bradley, Jesse Smith, Johnny Connolly, and Róisín Elsafty.

The Irish Music Rights Organisation has announced the second annual IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year Awards. The awards recognise Irish venues which provide the very highest standards in live music entertainment. Over 400 venues across Ireland qualify for the awards and these include pubs, hotels, arts centres, theatres, purpose built music venues and many more. Solo artist and multi instrumentalist Julie Feeney and lead singer of The Coronas, Danny O’Reilly, joined with IMRO Chairman Keith Donald and IMRO CEO Victor Finn to launch the awards, at IMRO headquarters in Copyright House, Dublin today.

The “Soundz of Muzic” has been trading in Henry Street, Kenmare for the last 15 years and was launched originally by Mr. John Rubin. John had worked in the music and film industry for many years, managing support acts for Michael Jackson and promoting films in Hollywood in a “colorful” and varied career.

The town of Ennis will be the host to the hundreds of musicians, singers, dancers and revellers who swarm in on the county for the 16th annual Ennis Trad Festival between 5th and 9th November 2009.This year’s event takes place in almost every venue in the town of Ennis and is a non-stop intensive programme of free day and night sessions with afternoon, evening and night-time concerts, recitals, singing, workshops, presentations, CD launches and the ever popular Trad disco.
The festival is officially launched on Thursday 5th November by Aine Hensey followed by a concert with local Clare band Moher. The late Thursday night festival concert will feature Manchester born banjo player Angelina Carberry with her father Peter Carberry and Paul Meehan.
