UNHEARD HARMONICA

www.claddaghrecords.com
Unheard is a collection or rescued archive material from Eddie Clarke a master of Traditional Irish Music on the Chromatic Harmonica. His playing spans three decades from the mid 1960’s to the late 1980’s. He was perhaps the finest player of traditional music on the harmonica, who died in 2004. His recorded output was small: “Crossroads” with Clare fiddler Joe Ryan and “Sailing into Walpole’s Marsh” with Maeve Donnelly which was recorded in the US. Comhaltas has issued this four CD collection of Clarke’s work, mostly his own cassette tapes and session recordings which were discovered after the musicians death. The collection was produced by Antoin MacGabhann who took four years selecting and editing the work, the recording quality is uneven, but this does not detract from the obvious skill and mastery of the harmonica by Clarke.
