National launch of the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and the All Ireland Fleadh Executive Committee launched Fleadh Ceoil na hÉireann 2010 - The All Ireland Fleadh, on Monday June 28 at the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin 8. Cavan Town will host this major Irish cultural event from 16th - 22nd August 2010.

The Fleadh was launched by Senator Labhras Ó Murchú, Ard-Stiúrthóir Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Fleadh Chairman Mr.Jack Keyes, Cavan County
Manager and the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mr. Brendan Smith T.D. who gave an open welcome to all to come to Cavan for the Fleadh.
The launch was hosted by Diageo, Fleadh sponsors, which brought all the excitement of the Fleadh and the refreshing humour which Cavan people are
renowned for.

Senator Ó Murchú said “that Cavan is set to deliver one of the most varied,innovative and professional Fleadhanna in the 60 year history of the event.
He added that the Fleadh in these challenging times will be a manifestation of the acknowledged tenacity and determination of the Cavan community. It
will provide a platform for renewal combined with culture and tourism opportunities”.

An extensive programme of indoor and outdoor events, including the All-Ireland Competitions, Concerts, Sessions, Awards and Art and the ever
popular street sessions were announced. One of the highlights of Fleadh 2010 will be the All Ireland Céilí Band Competition which will take place
on the final night Sunday August 22nd in the Quinndirect Dome.

Over 200,000 fleadh goers are expected to visit Cavan this August for what is expected to be a milestone in the new order of friendship and
co-operation which now exists on the whole island. It will be a memorable homecoming for the Irish Diaspora and friends of Irish culture.
