The Cup Of Tae Festival May bank holiday weekend is this year celebrating its tenth anniversary. Based around one of Donegal’s most famous fiddlers John the Tae Gallagher, the festival is now a firmly established date on the calender of events. What makes it special? For many it is the spontanous session that can just happen in this lovely town of Ardara, the many famous musicians that just turn up or the famous schools of music that is synonous with this festival and of coarse the wonderful warmth of the people of this picturesqe village on Donegals western seashore.

This year’s guests are many and amongst them are John Daly, Josephine Keegan The Campbells, Vincent, Jimmy and Peter, Edel McLaughlin, Tom Bryne, Trudy O’Donnell and many more. This year the festival will honour Matthew McGranaghan one of the finest young musicians of our time. Only those who have heard hom play will appreciate this wonderful talent. Going to the festival just to hear this fiddler would a wholesome experience.

The famous schools of music with Irelands top teachers will continue this year on fiddle, flute, whistle, accordian, guitar and singing. The Festival runs from Friday, April 29th to Monday May 2nd, 2011 in Ardara, Co. Donegal.
