TICKETS ON SALE NOW

Bluegrass Rockers HAYSEED DIXIE will join ELVIS COSTELLO and KT TUNSTALL at this year’s folk, roots and indie music festival SLIGO LIVE, as part of an exciting programme spanning 6 days over the October Bank Holiday Weekend. HAYSEED DIXIE will headline a live stand up gig on Friday, 28th October at 11.00 pm (Doors 10.00pm) in the Festival Club @ The Model.

Always pushing boundaries in extreme and often absurd ways, HAYSEED DIXIE return, full of pith, vinegar and a redneck appetite for destruction. Having bluegrassed the hell out of AC/DC and Kiss, to name but a couple of mighty desecrated rock institutions, the Appalachian Hellraisers aim to “drink, cheat, kill and earn our place in hell”.

HAYSEED DIXIE created the musical genre “Rockgrass” fusing hard rock covers from the likes of AC/DC, Kiss and Motorhead with seriously good Bluegrass picking and harmonies. Hailing from the Appalachian Mountains of the Southeastern United States, the band consists of:Barley Scotch - vocals, guitar and fiddle;Reverend Don Wayne Reno - banjo and vocals;Deacon Dale Reno - mandolin, guitar and vocals; and Jake “Bakesnake” Byers - bass and vocals

Having sold over 500,000 records worldwide, the band has successfully spread like a virus to every continent except Antarctica. Claiming to hail from Deer Lick Holler, Appalachia, the band has played over 1,000 live dates in 29 different countries since 2001.

They perform a mixture of cover versions of hard rock songs and original compositions in a style that is a unique fusion of bluegrass and rock music. Their set ranges from the Metal bands listed to Queen, the Beatles, and their own original music which is a whole different and very funny take on life, love and loss. By holding true to the spirit of the originals while refashioning them in the high lonesome mode, these fellows deliver a enduring appreciation and they have played almost every major European festival, including a Main Stage appearance at Glastonbury. Attesting to their cross-genre appeal, they are the only band ever to headline English festival stages at both Castle Donington Download Festival and the Cambridge Folk Festival

Sligo Live will announce an exciting programme spanning 6 days over the October Bank Holiday Weekend, October 26th – 31st. Now Ireland’s premiere folk, roots and Indie festival it brings together established Irish and international acts with some of the best emerging talent on the scene. This is the seventh year of the festival and each year it grows from strength to strength.

Hayseed Dixie will be joined in the Festival Club by a host of festival acts from 11.00pm to late on Friday 28th 0ctober 2011. Tickets are a reasonable €19 and are available from www.sligolive.ie, The Hawks Well (071 9161526) and from Ticketmaster. Weekend tickets are the perfect solution for those making a weekend of it as they guarantee admission to Elvis Costello and KT Tunstall, as well as Hayseed Dixie and all Sligo Live performances for only €95.
