The Cup of Tae Festival entered its eleventh year this year and over the years it has well and truely proved itself as one of Ireland’s best festivals. A prominent musician recently was quoted as saying “The Cup of Tae Festival is a hidden gem of a festival that is our little secret where the best musicians in the land and from Europe and USA come and join together and enjoy music in every nuke and cranny in an atmosphere of relaxation and fun. The local hosteries also make sure every musician is looked after and we don’t want everyone to know too much about The Cup of Tae Festival”.

This festival boasts of one of the best schools of music with top musicians teaching, fiddle, flute, whistle, guitar, singing amongst the many classes taking place. This year also the school honours top accordian player Martin Tourish. Martin is nephew of Ciaran of Altan and is without doubt one of the most exciting musicians in Ireland. Martin is a regular, at the National Concert Hall assisting many of the worlds top musicians who visit Ireland. Only when you see Martin in action can one truely appreciate this world class accordian player. Martin has been associated with the Cup of Tae Festival since the start so it is appropiate at this stage in his career he is honoured by those who truely appreciate his achievements. Martin will be accompanied by many of Irelands best musicians as he takes up the honour at this years festival.

Again this year musicians from Canada, and USA will attend the Festival and this year a larger than expect number from Germany have indicated their attendance. With the countries best teachers at the schools of music, The Cup of Tae Festival is the place to be.
