Festival season this year is heralded as being pivotal due to the growth in the number of smaller festivals. This is part due to the Oland Celtic Irish Music Festival on Oland, an island off the South East coast of Sweden where the royal family have their summer residence. Borgholm Castle will in its open courtyard echo the wonders of Celtic Irish music in its many variations, including modern interpretations. This years festival follows years of preparation and involvement in smaller festivals by the organisers. Last years Oland Celtic Irish Music Festival was a great success with extensive critical acclaim. This years event promises to be a more memorable experience due to it being more extensive and having a new location. Borgholm Castle is one of Sweden’s gems on Sweden’s premier holiday destination, Oland. Families are well-catered for with music classes for children and teenagers, activities and an atmosphere of family festive fun.

The final list of performers is currently being finalised and promises to present the very best of Irish and Celtic contemporary and traditional music. Each day of the festival running on July 5th, 6th and 7th, 2012, promises an entertaining variation in performances. These will be supported with easy access to refreshment and food. There will also be associated events in the vicinity of the castle relating to music and sports education, making this also a family event. Combining this with a holiday in the location would be highly advisable. Oland has an old world charm that offers a variety of activities and interesting sites, Borgholm Castle included.
