FEILE NEIDÍN

April 5th – 7th, 2013

Following the huge success playing host to two Munster Fleadh’s,   the Town of Kenmare, Co. Kerry has decided to start it’s own annual Irish Music festival, “Feile Neidín”. Touted by many since the 2008/10 Munster Fleadh’s as the “ideal events setting”, Kenmare will hold the festival on the weekend after Easter every year, the inaugural festival recently from April 5th – 7th, 2013.

The launch festival coincides with the year of The Gathering and running with the theme of Return to the Nest hopes to draw people from all over the country, and indeed the world, back to “an Neidín” (little nest!).

The weekend will see many well–known players acting as core musicians at sessions in the numerous venues during the entire weekend, also workshops for all instruments, story–telling for kids, Kenmare Bay boat trip sessions, 2 big name headline acts in the Arts Centre and a big Céilí night (or two). Kenmare is very excited about this festival and would love you all to come.

Look out for more updates in future issues of Irish Music Magazine.
