Strokestown Gearing up for THE 10th Annual Féile Frank McGann

Strokestown will be buzzing this October when Féile Frank McGann enthusiasts get together to for this year’s 10th Annual Féile. The weekend, which has become an established event in the traditional music scene, will attract musicians and listeners from all over the Country and from further afield.

Despite the current economic gloom, expectations are high for Féile Frank McGann 2012 which will be held in Strokestown, Co. Roscommon on October 12th, 13th, and 14th. An exciting line–up of artistes, workshops, recitals and other events is promised, with musicians and groups including internationally renowned superstars, Dervish and the Tulla Céilí Band due to perform.

This niche festival, described by many as one of the best in the Country, has maintained a constant standard that others have sought to attain. Musicians will again descend from Ireland and Britain as well as such far away places as Germany, China and Japan. Saturday
13th will see workshops held in a wide range of instruments, taught by some of the leading tutors in Ireland. The Kitchen Sessions, an idea conceived by the Féile Frank McGann team, will mesmerise an excited audience with a recital on Friday 7th in the unique setting
of the Victorian kitchen in Strokestown Park House.

An announcement on who will be performing will be made in early June. With the kitchen fire lit, the lights down low and complementary
glasses of wine, the atmosphere is one of warmth and intimacy – definitely an experience not to be missed! The Tulla Céilí Band are
back on Sunday 11th to get feet tapping.Féile Frank McGann was established to honour the memory of Frank McGann, a bodhrán player and singer born in Lissalway, Co. Roscommon in 1923 and who sadly passed away in 2002. He was renowned throughout the length and breadth of Ireland within the traditional scene.

The weekend will be filled with sessions, planned and impromptu, all over Strokestown as the towns people extend yet another warm welcome for true lovers of Trad.
