On Wednesday August 15th in the Liberty Insurance Dome the 2012 edition of the clár will be launched. The official programme is an important part of the festival as it contains all the information necessary to understand and enjoy the fleadh. The competition listings which are contained in the centre, forms the core of the book and is essential for every competitor. It was decided to have an official launch this year and combine it with a concert in order to promote the clár properly.

Fullset is booked to play the second–half of the show. They hail from Munster and are a six–piece group. They were recently voted the Best New Band in the Irish American News Music Awards and New Group of the Year in the well–respected Live Ireland Music Awards. All accomplished young musicians in their own right, Fullset create a stunning and unique sound that is full of energy and innovation, whilst all the time remaining true to their traditional roots. Having received critical acclaim for their debut album Notes At Liberty, Fullset are quickly becoming one of the most well known bands in the country. Miss them at your peril!

Supporting Fullset on the night is a very exciting new nine–piece group from Cavan called Gleo. Comprising sisters, Aoife and Katie Flynn, sisters, Aoife and Niamh Geoghan, brothers, Gareth and Seamus Tierney, Damian Bannon, Savannah Donohoe and Eimear Reilly, they will compliment Fullset perfectly with their enthusiastic playing and youthfulness.

Also launched on the night is a very unique cd compiled especially for the fleadh called The Cavan Connection. Gathering together as many songs and tunes about Cavan, the clár committee are thrilled to have received permission from artists such as Sharon Shannon,Thom Moore and Charlie McGettigan to use tracks made famous by them. Add to that some original tunes composed by local musicians and you have a fantastic blend of music that celebrates the county’s diverse musical heritage.
