The sensational Pokey LaFarge & The South City Three have been added to the stellar line up at this year’s Sligo Live Festival which spans 6 days over the Bank Holiday Weekend 24th – 29th October 2012. The uniqueness of Sligo Live is shown in the calibre of artists and performances they provide and this year is no exception. Pokey LaFarge & The South City Three are joining the ranks of performers at Sligo Live alongside legends Joan Armatrading and Van Morrison. Pokey La Farge headlines the Three Stage Festival Club in the Model on Saturday October 27th at midnight. Fresh from a sell-out UK and European tour, their unique brand of American roots music and incendiary live performances have captured the hearts of audiences all over the globe. After appearing on Jools Holland’s Later ‘Hootenanny’ show, demand to see these St Louis goodtime boys reached unprecedented levels and it quickly became apparent that this is a band riding a one-way ticket to the mainstream. After selling out two shows at Bush Hall in rapid time the rest of the European tour followed suit. As Mojo put’s it, “Pokey LaFarge not only remembers the good times – he IS the good times!”

The release of Middle Of Everywhere, the band’s second album was met with universal acclaim.  US roots bible No Depression called it “simply essential” whilst the Daily Express said the songs were “sounding so authentic you’d swear they were written back in his favorite era.” However it is left to The Herald to sum up their charm perfectly. “Pokey is a throwback to the days of medicine shows and guitar-picking troubadours, enthuses Rob Adams, “A dapper bantamweight in a pork pie hat who has acquired the voice of a man three times his age and four times his size.”Everyone, it appears, just loves Pokey LaFarge & The South City Three!

Now Ireland’s premiere folk, roots and Indie festival, Sligo Live brings together established Irish and international acts with some of the best emerging talent on the scene. A limited number of weekend tickets at €112 will enable music lovers to enjoy all of Sligo Live including Van Morrison and Joan Armatrading. More acts will be announced in the coming weeks so keep an eye on www.sligolive.ie
