TULLA TRAD FESTIVAL

The annual Tulla Trad Festival takes place on the weekend of September 7th – 9th, 2012 and this year’s event has a line–up which cannot be surpassed.
All the stars for the weekend will be performing at the celebrity concert and also tutoring at the workshops on Saturday. Including in the line–up are Sibeal Davitt who is one of the Judges on TG4’s Feis and Blood.
Fermanagh born, Darren Breslin who was a most worthy winner of the All-Ireland Senior ‘Box’ title at the All–Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in 2008, the Mulcahys of Abbeyfeale, Mick, Michelle and Louise Mulcahy who play a dazzling array of instruments which include harp, concertina, flute, accordion, uilleann pipes and melodeon. Another coup for this year’s festival are The Kane Sisters, Liz & Yvonne from North Connemara, who are much respected musicians and educators. Banjo enthusiasts at Tulla Trad will be in for a special treat with Angelina Carberry. Other guests at the concert include singer Brian O’Rourke, Vincent Griffin, fiddle player, Mary Corry on piano and Michael Landers on guitar. 2011 All–Ireland Wrenboy Champions, the Chapel Gate Wren boys from Cooraclare, will parade through the main street for the opening night and then perform at the Courthouse afterwards. Fiddle player extraordinaire, Eileen O’Brien from Nenagh launches her eagerly awaited CD on Sunday evening at Minogues, which is titled, Aon le hAon.

Céilí dancers will be well–catered for with Danny Hunt and his band for the opening Céilí on Friday night. On Saturday night there will be a Céilí Mór with The Five Counties Céilí Band in the St. Joseph’s Secondary School Hall. This lively band will keep the dancers on their toes for the night!

Mark Donnellan, Jim Corry and Charlie Harris will once again provide the music for the Closing Céilí at Minogues on the Sunday night. There will be sessions galore at all the pubs over the weekend.
