Traditional musicians all over Ireland are getting ready to raise the roof in a bid to fight global poverty.

The ‘Trad for Trócaire’ annual week kicks off on Thursday October 4th and this year the development organisation is hoping for a record 500 sessions to take place all over Ireland. Traditional music sessions will take place at various locations until Wednesday October 10th.

In partnership with Comhaltas Ceoltóiri Éireann, Trócaire is encouraging music lovers to sample the best of Irish traditional music while at the same time contributing towards tackling poverty in communities in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
Since it began in 2010, over 700 Trad for Trócaire sessions have taken place in locations from Fermanagh to Florida. This year’s event is set to be the biggest yet with over 500 gigs taking place in various locations all over Ireland, the UK and the United States.
