Macalla na hÉireann 2012, the famous  Comhaltas Concert Tour of Ireland, arrives in Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin on Thursday 18th October 2012

This annual Tour features the best of traditional talent drawn from the four Provinces of Ireland, they will perform at 14 venues from 14th to 27th October. Each year the tour assembles a fine mix of established artistes together with up-and-coming young stars. These are blended together into a fast-moving and colourful show that appeals to both the connoisseurs and peripheral fans of Irish traditional entertainment- a show that reflects the breadth and depth of music, dance and song.

This year’s impressive line up is as follows:
Alice Fitzgerald from Waterford, Singer and MC, Noel Battle from West Meath, on Mouth Organ, Shane Keating from Cork on uilleann pipes, Emer Toale from Dublin on harp/ piano, Lorraine McMahon from Louth on fiddle/whistle, Joseph Keane, Co. Laois on button accordion, Elaine Reilly from Longford on banjo, Róisín Broderick from Galway on concertina/fiddle, Clare Heffernan from Limerick on whistle/ flute, Aisling Vaughan from Cork, dancer/ concertina, Christin Mulcahy from Limerick, dancer/concertina,Tomás Ó Sé and Seán Hanafin both dancers from Kerry. Martin Murphy from Longford is the tour manager and the sound engineers are McElligotts from Tralee.

The tour is a taste of what the Derry will experience next year during Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2013 which is also organized by Comhaltas.
