The Shannonside Winter Music Weekend has habitually brought the best of music to the Banner county for the last 14 years, and this year they have hit the jackpot. Among the line-up are the Grammy Award nominees Special Consensus, a four-piece bluegrass band from the US, whose  “Scratch Gravel Road” CD is up for Bluegrass Album of the Year. The best place to catch them on their is their third visit to the festival is at the all-day music event on Sat 19th Jan in the Bunratty Folk Park, Co Clare

Among many others, the Folk Park will also host the Bulgarian band Lilly of the West whose recent CD was nominated in the top 4 for 2012 by the legendary Country music singer and critic Tom Travis.

Dublin band I Draw Slow, who played last year’s festival, signed with an American label in 2012, completed a US tour, and were hailed Stateside as releasing one of the best CDs of the year; just another testament to the high quality acts this acoustic roots festival continually attracts. This year’s roster includes the Alan Kelly Gang and Shaskeen playing traditional Irish, Gypsy Rebel Rabble playing rocka-hillbilly, Swell Berries playing swing, and the multinational Diversus Guitar Ensemble playing modern classical.

This year the festival runs 17th to 20th January, with 70 events across 15 venues in Sixmilebridge and Bunratty, Co Clare. Check out http://www.wmw.ie/ for full details or text your postal address to 0868464509 for a hard-copy brochure
