Meitheal 2013, the 10th edition will run from July 22nd–26th
in Villiers School, Limerick. A stellar cohort of tutors is being lined–up, many of them from overseas. Reaction to Meitheal 2012 was extremely positive and many students highlight the Finale Concert, and the appearance with Beoga at the Fleádh Cheoil na hÉireann as being unforgettable experiences.
The line–up of tutors so far: Alisha McMahon – harp, Brendan Mulholland – flute, Cillian King – concertina, Damien O’ Kane – banjo, John Carty – fiddle, Liz Doherty – fiddle, Mairearad Greene – piano accordeon, Martin Donohoe – button accordeon and Padraic Keane – uilleann pipe.
Several of last year’s award winners have already played at the events for which they were selected. Róisín Broderick was awarded a place on the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann tour of Ireland.  Meanwhile, Evan Clune, Fergal Breen, Sean Faherty and Conor Broderick are preparing for their festival gigs in the Spring. They have been chosen to appear at Corofin Trad Fest, Féile Chnoc na Gaoithe, Nyah Fest, and Sligo Feis Ceoil all over the next few months. Several scholarships to Meitheal are available, including to prizewinners in several categories at Fleádh Ceoil na hÉireann. This year, certain county councils are also offering bursaries to Meitheal which cover a sizeable proportion of the fees. This year, the 2013 Meitheal Orchestra will perform at the Guild Hall, Derry on the Friday of Fleádh Cheoil na hÉireann.
