This year the 12th Skerries Trad Music Weekend will take place from May 17th – 19th in the picturesque seaside town of Skerries situated in the North Fingal region of County Dublin. In 2013, Skerries will play host to a weekend packed with music, song and dance where leading artists will travel to Skerries and join with locals and visitors in a celebration of our unique Irish heritage. A great selection of top class individual players will be participating throughout the weekend on many levels including formal concerts, tutoring and pub sessions. Artists such as Mary Bergin, The Kane Sisters, Marcus Maloney, Con ‘Fada Ó’ Drisceoil, Mick O’Brien, Paudie O’ Connor, Dónal Mc Cague, Mairéad Casey, Jack Talty, to mention but a few.
This year the Festival will feature a special Saturday night Concert with Frankie Gavin & De Dannan to inject an extra dimension of excitement and energy to the weekend events. Contact Tel: 087 6528643 for concert tickets.

There will also be more focus on pub sessions this year where some of Irelands’ top exponents of traditional music will showcase their talents in a more informal and natural setting. Players are welcome to join in the many sessions during the weekend which will also include a Slow Session for Adults and a Junior Session aimed at providing an opportunity for young musicians to play together.
Many of the highlights of the Weekend will take place once again this year including the Opening Concert on Friday night featuring local artists, tutors, and guests; the ever–popular workshops on Saturday include a variety of instruments and dancing. Music on the Street’ will also feature on the Saturday afternoon. The very popular Sunday morning recital in Skerries Mills is hosted by Mary Bergin who leads her fellow tutors in an early morning tune.

Skerries Trad Music Weekend continues to go from strength–to– strength and this year promises to attract many more revelers from Ireland and abroad, so make sure you join them in May for a chilled weekend of great music, great craic and a great vibe.
Skerries Traditional Music Weekend is very grateful for the kind sponsorship and support of Fingal County Council, The Arts Council, Atlantic Philanthropies and the local businesses of Skerries.
