Now in its third year, Clannad’s Moya Brennan and harp maestro, Cormac De Barra’s exclusive Voices & Harps workshop takes place on the weekend of June 21st – 23rd. The appeal has spread wide and this year the workshop will host visitors from Germany, France, Japan and the UK – as well as a number of homegrown enthusiasts. Places are limited in order to ensure personal attention to all participants but there are still a few places left.

The workshop will be geared towards those with a keen interest in combining singing with harp playing (singers looking to perform with harp accompaniment, voice with self accompaniment, voice and vocal harmonies or harpers developing their accompaniment skills).

The workshop fee will include all workshop sessions from Friday afternoon, through to Sunday plus lunch and dinner on both days. Travel and accommodation should be arranged by participants themselves but options for both will be posted on the workshop web page. Many participants from last year have signed up again so places are limited and immediate booking is advised.

Registration in Naomh Padraig from 12.30pm on the Friday prior to the first half day of workshops. There will be live music that evening after dinner. Saturday night will see the home launch of Moya and Cormac’s new album, Affinity, when they will showcase some of their new songs themselves and the finale, in the renowned Leo’s Tavern on Sunday evening, will give participants the opportunity to perform a selection of the material from the workshop.

Moya Brennan and Cormac De Barra both come from large musical families in Ireland and their mutual admiration for each other naturally developed into a stimulating musical relationship. Their new album, Voices & Harps, is the culmination of their friendship and creative synergy over the past decade.  They combine the simplicity, depth and beauty of the extraordinary skills which make them unique in their own field. The album and workshop unveils a new chapter in their partnership.

Grammy award winner, Moya Brennan is the singer of Clannad as well as having a successful solo career. She has sung on most of the world’s great stages and has collaborated with many notable artists including The Chieftains, Paul Brady and Bono. She is also part of the female traditional group, T with the Maggies.

Cormac De Barra is renowned internationally as a versatile harp virtuoso. He continually pushes the boundaries of the Irish harp through his work with a wide array of artists, including Hazel O’Connor, Julie Feeney and Clannad. Cormac also tours and records with his brothers Fionán and Éamonn in the family group, Barcó. Besides his busy performing schedule he regularly gives workshops and master classes around the world.
