14th ANNUAL CARMEL GUNNING SUMMER SCHOOL FESTIVAL

August 6th, 7th, 10th, 2013

The 14th Annual Carmel Gunning Summer School festival will run as a three day event for 2013 on August 6th, 7th and 10th. Down through the years this summer school has produced many fine students from America, England, France and Ireland who are active in traditional music circles today.

Traditional Music and singing workshops will be held in Sligo Town on August 6th and 7th. Instruments taught are Tin Whistle, Flute, Guitar and Traditional Singing. Entertainment will be held in Paul McTiernans Pub, Gleann, Conways Cross, Geevagh, Co. Sligo on Saturday August 10th.

TIMETABLE AS FOLLOWS:
August 6th
Tin whistle workshop                   10.00am – 1.00pm
Traditional Singing workshop         3.00pm  – 6.00pm
August 7th
Guitar workshop                          10.00am – 1.00pm
Flute workshop                           3.00pm – 6.00pm
August 10th
Singing Session                           6.00pm – 9.00pm
Trad Music Session
with Students and Tutors            9.30pm – 12 Midnight

Tutors for this years Summer School are Carmel Gunning and Olivia McTernan.Special Guest attending the traditional singing session will be well–known traditional singer, Tommie Kearns (Australia), and well–known fiddle player, Mick Shannon from Co. Fermanagh, will be this years special guest at the traditional music session.
