Celtic Colours International Festival recently announced its venues and communities line–up for 2013. Concerts this year will take place in 33 communities at 39 different venues. The process of choosing venues starts in January with a call for expressions of interest from local non–profit organizations. All applications are evaluated for suitability according to set criteria, and although some venues are selected year after year, all applications are evaluated each year.

New for 2013 is a re–designed logo which incorporates, for the first time, the Scottish Gaelic language. In keeping with the ‘Experience it All’ invitation they have been extending for the past year, the phrase Mealaibh ar dualchas encourages the audience to enjoy the culture. While always a part of the Festival programming, interest in the Gaelic language is experiencing a resurgence in Cape Breton amongst people young and old, and the Province of Nova Scotia just recently celebrated its 17th official Gaelic Awareness Month this past May.

A final exciting project completed in preparation for the 2013 season is the creation of a series of videos outlining our five categories of community cultural events. The videos colourfully demonstrate the range and excitement of the more than 200 Community Cultural Events that are held in nearly 60 communities each year. See their popular collection of high–definition festival videos located at youtube.com/celticcolours.

The 17th Celtic Colours International Festival takes place October 11th–19th, 2013 on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. The line–up will be announced June 24th with tickets going on sale July 8th.
