Marianne Green first entered the Irish music scene with her debut album Dear Irish Boy. The album was recorded at the foot of the Mourne Mountains in Colum Sands’ studio Spring Records, in Rostrevor. Now she returns to Rostrevor to play at the Fiddler’s Green International Festival.

Although being Danish–born, Marianne Green has a passion for Irish song and in particular the traditions of Co. Down. As well as reviving traditional songs, she composes her own material, entrancing audiences with her delicate, lilting vocals. Her debut album is produced by and recorded with Andy Irvine and has received many excellent reviews in different folk and roots magazines.

She has been noticed for both her individual approach to the material as well as a recognizable Northern style. Marianne Green now plays alongside Norwegian guitar and dobro player, Magnus Wiik, bodhrán player, Martin O’Hare and Sonnich Lydom on button accordion and harmonica. They will be performing a spot at the City of London Festival on July 24th in connection with a theme on Northern Ireland before travelling to Rostrevor.

At the Fiddler´s Green Festival, Marianne will appear as support for Sharon Shannon’s concert and Hall of Fame Award. If you are a lover of traditional songs in the Northern Irish tradition, it is worth while checking out Marianne Green.
