FLEADH CHEOIL 2013

Fleadh Live will see the world’s best traditional Irish musicians perform in a series of shows broadcast live and direct from the Fleadh Cheoil in Derry from Wednesday, August 14th – Sunday 18th, daily on TG4, www.tg4.tv and FleadhCheoil.ie

Fleadh Live will include performances from some of the biggest names on the international world/folk music scene, interspersed with impromptu music lifted off the street by visiting musicians and winners of Fleadh competitions.

Each Fleadh Live show will be hosted by top TG4 television personality, Síle Ní Bhraonáin, and traditional Irish music legend, Gino Lupari, and will take the format of iconic live music programmes such as Later… with Jools Holland and Top of the Pops, with multiple performance spaces and energetic live audiences. Also confirmed to be part of the presenting team is BBC Blas Ceoil presenter Lynette Fay.

Some of the Acts that will feature on Fleadh Live will include Flook, Beoga, Cara Dillon, Liz Carroll, The Friel Sisters, The Campbells of Greepe, Tim Edey & Brendan Power, Troy MacGillivray, Mairead Ní Mhaonaigh, Dermot & Flo, Kevin Crawford, Buille, Damien O’Kane, Dave Sheridan Trio, The Battlefield Band, Perfect Friction, Tim Eriksen, Pauline Scanlon (from Lumiere) & Barry Kerr, and many more! Take The Floor 2013 (featuring Beoga) will be launching the first live evening show.
Northern Ireland Tourist Board Director of Marketing Naomi Waite is encouraging everyone to get their culture heads on, don their dancing shoes and make the most of this jam–packed summer event.

“Visitors from across the world will flock to Derry~Londonderry to see the world’s best traditional Irish musicians perform at Fleadh Live, as part of the largest Irish Culture celebration of its kind,” said Naomi.

“From unique dance shows and performances by big names from the Celtic music world to CD launches, art exhibitions and craft fairs the Fleadh Cheoil promises a fantastic, packed programme of world class events this August,” Naomi added.
Fleadh Live will be broadcast from 8–11pm every night from August 14th–18th live on TG4, www.tg4.tv  and www.FleadhCheoil.ie

There will also be a series of special online lunchtime concerts from 1–2pm daily from 14th – 16th August live on www.tg4.tv  and www.FleadhCheoil.ie
