Meitheal 2014 will run from July 21st – 25th in Villiers School, Limerick. A stellar cohort of tutors is being lined–up, many of them from overseas. Reaction to Meitheal 2013 was extremely positive and many students highlight the Finale Concert, and the podcast and TG4 appearance at Fleádh Cheoil na hÉireann in Derry as being unforgettable experiences.

The line–up of tutors so far:

Dezi Donnelly – fiddle, Karen Tweed – orchestra & piano box,

Lisa Canny – harp, Martino Vacca – banjo, Jean–Michel Veillon – flute, Alan Reid – banjo, Aoife Ní Bhriain – fiddle, Caitlin Nic Gabhann – concertina, Colm Gannon – accordeon

Many of the award winners have already played at the events for which they were chosen. The group Scéal Eile and soloists Fiachra Guihen and Clara Mannion starred in the National Concert Hall in August. Sadhbh O Brien and Diarmuid Faherty played on TG4 from the Guildhall in Derry. Conor Broderick spent a week on the trad music BA programme at UL. Cliona Halley has completed the CCE tour of Ireland. Meanwhile, Clare Faherty, Donagh McElligot, Cairenn Keegan, Olive O’Mahoney and Sarah O’Gorman are preparing for their up and coming 2014 festival gigs. They have been chosen to appear at the Nyah festival in Cavan, the Sligo Feis Ceoil, Féile Chnoc na Gaoithe and also at the Corofin Trad fest.

Several scholarships to Meitheal are available, including to prizewinners in several categories at Fleádh Cheoil na hÉireann.

Apply by March 28th.
