Craiceann is an International Summer School for bodhrán players from beginner to professional level. It has been held each year since 2001 for a week in summer on the beautiful Aran Island of Inis Oirr. This year’s Craiceann runs from Monday June 23rd to Friday 27th. The week includes daily classes with world class tutors, evening concerts, special workshops/lectures, nightly pub music sessions, and other organised events.

Tutors this year are John Joe Kelly; Jim Higgins; Martin O’Neill; Rolf Wagels; Aimee Farrell–Courtney; Cormac Byrne and Colm Phelan. Concerts are performed by Martin O’Neill & Friends (featuring members of Danú), and Full Set.

This Summer School has become part of the fabric of Inis Oirr every June, and bodhrán students from all around the world are warmly welcomed into the Craiceann and Inis Oirr communities. This week delivers an intensive learning experience in a supportive and friendly atmosphere, all set in a magical island setting. Playing skills are improved, friendships are made and renewed, and all in a week of music, craic, and natural beauty.
