For this year’s May Bank Holiday – the place to be is Ardara, Co. Donegal. This quaint and unique Festival in honour of a famous Donegal Fiddler called John ‘The Tae’ Gallagher is in its thirteenth year and is going from strength–to–strength. This year that famous and popular Fiddler, Danny Meehan is being honoured. Danny spent many years in Britain and was well–known in the circuit there before returning home some years ago. Danny is great friends with the Campbells of Glenties and is regularly in their company. A Special Concert takes place on the Friday night in Danny’s honour. This is a Concert not to be missed and space is limited – so book early to avoid disappointment.

Musicians from all over the world come to the ‘Cup of Tae’ Festival and all indications are that this year will be the biggest Festival to date. The ‘Cup of Tae’ Schools of Music are very popular where the best Musical teachers around put on Classes on Saturday and Sunday. One of the most popular Classes has been where the Tutors get Vocals and Instruments and allows a budding Musician the chance to get involved in Sessions.

Often said this is the best wee Fleadh in Ireland. A visit to the ‘Cup of Tae’ is a must as the Festival boasts of spontaneous Sessions open air and in Halls and Pubs all the time.
