The 18th annual Celtic Colours International Festival is all about friends and family. Musical pals Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain will kick–off the Cape Breton Island–wide festival on October 10th, and Natalie MacMaster and Sharon Shannon, who met at the first Celtic Colours, will help close it October 18th. Other old friends of the festival include Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas with their unique fiddle and cello partnership, guitarists Tony McManus and Tim Edey, singers David Francey and Nathan Rogers, and the amazing Swedish trio Väsen.

On the family front, Ashley MacIsaac and his cousin Wendy are two of Cape Breton’s finest fiddlers while the Isle of Skye–based Campbells of Greepe hold a wealth of Gaelic songs. The Chaisson Family, the MacKenzie Brothers, the MacDonalds of Glenuig, and All Fired Up all perform as families, and then there’s the siblings: the Wrigley Sisters, the Beaton Sisters, and Qristina and Quinn Bachand.

Festival veterans Beòlach, Sprag Session, and Còig will welcome newcomers The Fretless (British Columbia), Les Amis Creole (Louisiana) and We Banjo 3 (Ireland). Adam Sutherland and Hamish Napier from Scotland and songstress Laura Smith will also be making their first visit to the Festival while J.P. Cormier, Howie MacDonald, Dwayne Côté, Kimberley Fraser, The Men of the Deeps, and many more local favourites join Artists in Residence Nic Gareiss and Mac Morin for a celebration of music and culture like no other. Be sure to explore some of the 200 community cultural experiences in every corner of the island, and end your days at the Festival Club where the magic happens every night when the concerts are over.
