If you would like to come to Ennis, Co. Clare to focus in on your flute playing and immerse yourself in flute specific workshops and masterclasses for five days there are still places available.

The week is packed with lessons to hone in on your technique and expand your repertoire. The morning workshops with Kirsten Allstaff are centred on learning new tunes while at the same time focusing on issues that challenge all flautists – tone production, embouchure, articulation and stamina. Learning as part of a small group of adults is a rewarding and fun experience.

Dr. Niall Keegan and Kevin Crawford will each host an afternoon masterclass during the week. Students can get tips and advice on various aspects of flutes and flute playing. An evening concert will showcase the flute playing of all the tutors.

The retreat also features a trip to West Clare to see some of the coastal beauty spots, O’Connors pub, Doolin and to experience a session outside of Ennis. The Rowan Tree Hostel, a recently renovated Georgian building close to the banks of the River Fergus is where the flute retreat takes place. There is a choice of single or shared rooms. Breakfast and evening meals are taken in the Rowan Tree Restaurant. Accommodation and meals are included in the retreat package.

Ennis is a bustling market town full of pubs, cafes and boutiques. There will be time during the week for you to peruse the famous Custy’s music shop for instruments books and CD’s, wander the banks of the river Fergus and relax in Brogan’s Traditional music pub. On the afternoon off, you may want to visit Craggaunowen or Bunratty for an experience of early Irish history.
