The 2nd annual New York Trad Fest takes place on October 18th at Connolly’s Club 45. It will feature over 20 of New York’s finest trad players: James Keane, Jerry O’ Sullivan, Dr. Mick Moloney, Brian Conway, Ivon Goff and Patrick Mangan, to name a few. The 1st annual NYTF 2013 was one night and a huge success.

This year it will be 2 nights and the organisers are happy to have the Irish Arts Center to host on Sunday October 19th with 3 very special duets: The Murphy Beds (new Irish/Americana duo), Tony Trischka and Kenny Kosek (bluegrass legends), and two of New York’s best tradsters Eileen Ivers and Joanie Madden.

Saturday the 18th October will begin with a panel discussion led by Dr. Mick Moloney at the NYU Glucksman Ireland house. The Masters of NYtrad is the theme as people discuss the influences that moulded their art. Donie Golden (dance master), Joanie Madden (Cherish the Ladies) and Dylan Foley (2014 Senior All Ireland Fiddle Champ) will be on the panel this year.

There will be sessions during the week that will feature NY tradfest artists such as Swifts Hibernian Lounge (4th St off Bowery), Aubergine Cafe (singers session in Woodside Queens, NY), Lillies Pub (17th St, Union SQ), The Brass Monkey (Little West 12th St), and The 11th St bar (11th St off Ave A).

There hasn’t been a festival like this in NY for almost 20 years, so the organisers felt it was time to do it.

NYTF is presented in collaboration with CITY LORE, the NY Center for urban folk culture, a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations to support NYTF are tax deductible to the full extent permitted by law.
