Details have recently been released about Consairtin 2015, the second annual national concertina convention, which will take place in Ennis from April 10th – 12th, 2015. The inaugural convention was held last April and was an outstanding success with hundreds of players, students and enthusiasts gathering for a weekend that was invigorating, educational and enjoyable.

New features for 2015 include specialist workshops with Padraig Rynne (tunes from outside Ireland), Tim Collins (slow airs) and Mairéad Corridan (the Sliabh Luachra repertoire) as well as graded classes for players of all abilities. Students will also be able to attend a hands–on practical tutorial where they can learn the skills needed for basic instrument maintenance. Concert performers will include the ICE Quintet, Crag Road, Micheáland MacDara Ó Raghallaigh, Caitlín Nic Gabhann and Ciaran Ó Maonaigh, the Droney family, and more to be confirmed. The Concertina Expo will give an opportunity to makers and menders, designers and decorators to display their work and meet potential customers. Associated merchandise, CD’s and books will also be on sale. Registration is now open for classes, specialist workshops and maintenance tutorials, with a 10% saving for students who register and pay in advance.
