Return to Camden Town Festival

The 17th Return to Camden Town Festival kicks–off with a Birmingham Irish themed night featuring Noreen Cullen and Adrian Burns, Conor Healey and friends at Camden’s Green Note. Later in the week (Thurs) the Festival will host its first concert in legendary Irish music venue – The Fiddler’s Elbow, Kentish Town with CrossHarbour and Artisan Row.

Friday sees RtCT back at Kings Place, with the young Killarney band, Seven Glens and Breaking Trad plus Gino Lupari. There will be music, song and dance sessions and workshops, concerts, album launches and céilís at different venues over the 7 days – with a particularly high concentration of events at the London Irish Centre on Saturday and Sunday. Afternoon concerts featuring Caitlín Nic Gabhann and Ciarán Ó Maonaigh, The London Lasses and Chris O’Malley, Peter Carberry and Padraig McGovern, plus a welcome return by Donegal fiddling hero, Danny Meehan alongside Le Chéile. Altan headline on Saturday night, with support by Cran (who appear again on Monday afternoon).

Cork’s Abbey Céilí Band will play for set dancing. Sunday night brings the Festival for the very first time to the world renowned RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) in Bloomsbury, with a screening of ‘The Godfather’ (about Bryan Rooney), followed by a multimedia show presented by the Leitrim Equation team (Eleanor Shanley, Dave Sheridan, Padraig McGovern, John McCartin, Edwina Guckian and more).
