NEW CD BY MARK LYSAGHT

The Collaborations CD is a unique collection of recordings  by accompanist Mark Lysaght with Irish traditional musicians (playing uilleann pipes, fiddle, flute, accordion, mandolin, banjo, tin whistle and low whistle).

On this album, Mark mainly uses  guitar, bouzouki and keyboards to accompany a group of musicians he has enjoyed playing with over the years including (in order of appearance on the CD) John O’Brien, Joe Toolan, Mark Óg Lysaght, Mary Rowsome, Breanndán Ó’Beaglaíoch, Treasa Lavin, Lisa Conway, John Regan, Liz Coleman, Josephine Marsh, Seamus Ó’Rocháin, Eileen Hassett, Pauline Burke, Paul Kelly and Clodagh Warnock.
The result is an 18 track CD containing over an hour of quality music – its hallmark is the variety of musicians and accompaniment styles.
The project lasted almost 9 months, and the original idea was to record a tune or set of tunes with each musician.
As things developed, a few ensembles were formed, including a family group with Mark’s wife Mary Rowsome on flute and his youngest son Mark Óg on uilleann pipes.
The opening track features John O’Brien and Joe Toolan together on a lively set of reels, and elsewhere on the CD, Paul Kellly is featured on both fiddle and mandolin along with Mary Rowsome on a set of jigs.
Mark wants Collaborations to be enjoyed as a complete CD, and so far he has resisted the temptation to make individual tracks available for download.
The album is available at selected Irish traditional music stores and also online from Claddagh, Custys and Tower Records.
