The Willis Clan Announce Dublin Performance in the National Concert Hall On 25 August

The Willis Clan have announced a very special Dublin show at the National Concert Hall on Thursday 25 August 2016 following the success of their nationwide tour and new album ‘Chapter Two: Boots’.  Tickets priced €30 go on sale this Friday 22 July at 10am. Concessions available for students, OAPs and Group Bookings. The Willis Clan, who recently performed for children in Temple Street Children’s Hospital, will donate a percentage of proceeds to the hospital.

Bringing their mixture of original bluegrass and country to the National Concert Hall this August, the 14 person family will return to Ireland for their first headline Dublin date. The concert is simply unmissable as The Willis Clan will be joined on stage by special guests including Moya Brennan for a number of songs.

“While at Moya’s family home in Donegal last month - TWC expressed our love for the hymn Be Thou My Vision.  Moya took us to the room where her grandfather translated 2 verses of the hymn into Irish and taught it to us.  We will be performing this beloved hymn with her”.

The band comprises of 11 of the 12 children: Jennifer, on fiddle, accordion and lead vocals, Jeremiah, on acoustic and electric guitars and uilleann pipes, Jeanette, on whistle and dobro, Jackson, on drums and banjo, Jedidiah, on bass, and Jasmine, on lead vocals, mandolin, banjo and fiddle, Julie, Jamie, Joy Anna, Jaeger and Jada play various accompanying instruments and dance. The oldest, Jessica is now a full time songwriter in Nashville.

The Willis Clan broke out in a big way at the end of 2013 when they were named the TODAY show’s Sound of Music Family. This appearance led to an initial audition on the 9th season of America’s Got Talent with their cover of “A Few Of My Favorite Things” that has now garnered over 7 million views on YouTube. The video got the attention of TLC executives and a reality show centered on the family was fast-tracked and went into production the end of 2014. The first season of the show premiered In August 2015 in Ireland and the UK and will be on returning soon for the second season!

The Willis Clan’s first album, ‘Chapter One – Roots’, won Celtic Connection Radio Album of the Year. Their second album, ‘Chapter Two – Boots’, showcases the effects of exploration into Nashville’s music scene, where the family relocated from Chicago in 2000, and developed a mixture of original bluegrass and country tracks. Appearances at the IBMA festivals in 2013 and 2014, and extensive runs at the theme parks Dollywood and Silver Dollar City propelled the Clan to a fan favourite in the bluegrass world. The horizon is burning bright for this trailblazing family.
