Declan O’Rourke makes his welcome return to Naas this winter playing live in the classic and iconic setting of The Old Dara Cinema.
Directly following the release of Declan’s much anticipated new album ‘In Full Colour’, due out October 28th, this concert will see Declan play all of his best material to date as well as some beautiful new songs featured on the album.

‘In Full Colour’ is comprised of songs, old and new, re-imagined and accompanied by full orchestra, including the acclaimed Children of ‘16. Declan’s astonishing live performances see him weave from beautifully, haunting ballads to uplifting story-telling, all superbly crafted; a sublime experience to say the least, not to be missed.

‘Compassion, romance, a sense of mortality and a sense of history run through the songs of Declan O’Rourke. The gravity of the deliberation in their melodies, their calmly sustained phrases, their fatalistic undertone — informs his songs, whether they’re about faithful love or reckoning with elemental forces.’ — Jon Pareles, The New York Times.

Declan O’Rourke has achieved critical acclaim for his songwriting, singing and performance and plays to sold-out crowds in his native country, Ireland, and tours extensively in America, Australia, and Europe. A consummate and versatile performer, his songs mesmerise regardless of whether performed solo, with a band, string quartet, with full orchestra, or with a choir.

Please join us to experience the inimitable Declan O’Rourke Live in the beautiful, iconic and ambient Old Dara Cinema.

This live concert will all be in aid of a very worthy cause in our community:

The Food Bank on Main St
‘Helping to feed the hidden hungry’

Main Street Foodbank is an initiative started in December 2012 Since then, with fantastic support from the local community, their drop-in centre has been operating every week, where currently (July 2016) an average of 100+ individuals and families access the service for help.
In Ireland, food poverty has emerged as an increasingly important issue; recent findings by the Department of Social Protection disclosed 10% of the population in Ireland are living in food poverty.

Facts about food poverty in Ireland:
1 in 4 of the population live in deprivation
1 in 7 of those at risk of poverty has a job
750,000 people live very close to the breadline
Today people across Ireland struggle to feed themselves and their families. Redundancy, illness, benefit delay, domestic violence, debt, family breakdown and paying for the additional household costs are just some of the reasons why people go hungry.

Naas Foodbank helps to feed these ‘hidden hungry’ in our community because nobody should have to go without food on their tables.
